This stunningly-tailored Alexander McQueen suit from his Fall 2009 collection is my dream item right now. Everything about it makes me feel warm and glowing inside. I consider houndstooth my pattern (after it became popular I had to teach everyone what it was called -- does that look like a "checker-board"?). Black-and-white anything is the fastest way to my heart. But the exquisite cut of this suit would make even basic brown polyester look amazing. I adore the cut of the jacket, the oversize three-quarter sleeves (makes room for bracelets!) and asymetrical lines. I'm sure Gwen Stefani has already ordered one.

Recently I started making a flared skirt with some awesome electric-blue wool houndstooth fabric I bought a year ago. I got bored halfway through and didn't finish it, which I'm thankful for now, since there's enough material in the unfinished skirt to start a new one. I have fallen in love with the simple elastic-waist miniskirts from American Apparel (my long-waisted, short-legged physique needs the illusion they create), but I would never pay $30 for something I can make myself with seven dollars and a half hour with a sewing machine.

Or at least his shoes do. I haven't actually seen a picture of the designer behind these:

The last one evokes almost as many questions as a work of art. Is that a stiletto heel grafted onto a red Timbaland boot? Where is the other half of that zipper? Is the rich color more like dried blood or fresh? Is the placement of the studs supposed to resemble barbed wire (and perhaps a crown of thorns)?
I'd love to traipse past a line of Passion of the Christ 2 viewers in those babies.

"Paper-bag waist" is probably the dumbest new name for an old trend (the runner up has got to be the bubble dress). What happened to elegant, attractive words like ruched or gathered? At the very least they could have picked something less evocative of our current depressing state of affairs than a paper bag. It makes me picture people scurrying around a barren post-apocalyptic city barely swathed in old newspaper. Which is not very fashion-y.

Apparently the global economic crisis has also affected the number of appropriate and eloquent words available. Who knew. Perhaps the fashion industry can win a stimulus check from Obama. I mean really, how much can a thesaurus cost, a thousand dollars?

A fur minidress seems a little too literal for me, but I want everything in these pictures and I am not sure why. Plus, the hem on that Balmain dress was probably once a whole happy family of foxes, but daaamn it's so good.

And I love those shoes! I've been searching for the perfect pair of nude heels. Oh Miu Miu, when will your knock-offs, or as I like to say, tributes come out?

I am pining for a grey faux fur scarf after spotting this adorablely soft-looking stay-put one.

My hair isn't growing out at all fast enough for me to survive much more of this freezing weather.
